Beau & Becca

Addison “Beau” Beauregard was born smarter than both of his parents put together. But to spare their feelings and out of laziness, he often hid his superior intellect and did as little in school as he could without actually flunking. He was also a gifted athlete, and played any game superbly, up to the point where a coach tried to teach him the discipline required to become really proficient. Then he would rebel and quit, only to take up some other sport, to the frustration of his parents and teachers alike. He consciously developed the persona of a good old boy, hunting, fishing and partying with friends who never noticed his smothered intelligence.  The only thing he pursued seriously was girls, and due to his sexual prowess he was voted “Most Likely to Knock Up a Cheerleader” in his high school year book.

By his early 20’s, Beau realized that he had squandered his brains and was looking forward to a life as a failed former high school jock. He masked his frustrations with hard partying but he often felt he would be the last of a line of successively less successful Beauregards. Even banging rodeo bunnies silly was losing its appeal and he began to drink to dangerous excess.

One night at the Full Moon Saloon he was chatting up a bus load of East Coast tourists when he spotted Jewish American Princess Rebecca “Becca” Greene. In Urso, a Jewess was as exotic as a bear in a boudoir and Beau was utterly smitten. Turning on all his charm, Beau was thrilled to see an ursine grin light up her face and proposed they retire to the men’s room of the saloon for a quickie. He gave her a “Montana Howdy Ma’am”, she gave him a “New Jersey Surprise” and they instantly realized that they had found their sexual soul mate.

Becca had come to Montana for a friend’s wedding and never imagined that she would stay. But as Beau related his family story, Becca knew that this rough diamond could be her chance to escape her safe but boring existence and live a life under her own control. By the end of the weekend she had proposed, he had accepted and to his astonishment, Beau discovered that the only woman who had ever matched his libido was also stinking rich.

Becca quickly took matters into her own capable hands, restored the house, installed her oblivious in-laws in a spacious apartment in back and laid plans for the revival of the beer business. She made herself CEO and her husband the titular President of Bearly Legal Beer. Since Beau had neither the skills nor the desire to be a real manager of anything, Becca became the undisputed queen of all she surveyed, much to Beau’s relief. He cut back his drinking from life-threatening to merely excessive and set about the pleasurable task of providing his queen with an heir.

No doubt Grandpa Doc was smiling down (or maybe up) upon the birth of Aaron Abraham Addison Greene Beauregard, his great-great-great-great grandson, born and raised in Urso, just as Doc would have wanted. Vowing to be a more involved parent than his own were, Beau spends his days as a contented house husband and devoted father, occasionally making visits to the brewery. Precociously gifted in math and science, young “Addy” already knows more about beer and the brewery than his father, and is being carefully trained by his mother to be a master brewer and expert businessman. With the family fortunes restored, the future now looks bright for Montana’s best least-known brewing company.
